Hi, I’m Sarah.

I am currently a Miller Postdoctoral Fellow in the Departments of Plant and Molecular Biology and Earth and Planetary Science at UC Berkeley. I also have affiliations with the Feedstocks Division at the Joint Bioenergy Institute at the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory and the Innovative Genomics Institute.

I completed my PhD in Geochemistry at Caltech in November 2023.

In July 2027, I will be joining the Department of Geophysical Sciences at the University of Chicago as an Assistant Professor.

Started Miller Postdoctoral Fellowship at UC Berkeley, affiliated with the Joint BioEnergy Institute at the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory.

“I always loved nature, but I first wanted to be an artist or a novelist,” she recalls. “I’ve always loved telling stories.” But when she was an undergraduate trying to settle on a major, she realized that she could do a lot of what she loved as a geologist. “Being a scientist, you get to tell stories. And you also get to do a lot of visual art, creating graphics,” she says. “I get to spend most of my time answering really big questions to understand the world, but also the small day-to-day moments doing the other things that I love most.” -Interview in Protostar, Science Adviser
